The town of Wirksworth is an attractive place for a Bed and Breakfast stay in the Peak District.  It is one of the oldest towns in the area and one with the most character.

There is plenty of Bed and Breakfast opportunities to be found in Wirksworth, perhaps the strangest would be a stay in the Old Lock Up.  The town itself has several shops and plenty of pubs to chose from.

Its industrial past was based on the Lead mining industry and it has a fine 13th century church which lies to the east of the market place.

Close by is Carsington Water, where visitors can sail or fish or just walk, and local villages include Hognaston, close to Carsington Water and Brassington with nearby Minninglow and Harboro rocks.
