BED + BREAKFAST ACCOMMODATION IN LEEK |
Leek hotels & bed & breakfastWhy not try a Bed and Breakfast stay in Leek, known locally as the Queen of the Moorlands. It is a market town that stands on a hill beside the river Churnet. The town itself was mentioned in the Doomsday book, although there is a cross in the churchyard dating from the 10th century. Leek makes a perfect place for a Bed and Breakfast stay if you want to explore the south and west areas of the Peak District. In the 18th and 19th centuries Leek gained National fame for its Silk woven products. Today visitors can sample the delights of the Churnet Valley Railway, a 6.5 mile steam train ride through wonderful scenery. Perhaps a visit to a rare breeds farm at the Moorlands Park Farm or for the adventurous try a ramble around the Roaches, Hen Cloud and Ramshaw Rocks, some of the best gritstone climbing in the area. For the thrill seeker, no stay in Leek would be complete without a day out at the Alton Towers theme park which lies 12 miles south of Leek and offers a fun filled day out for all the family.
